The History of AAVI
The AAVI was formed in 1979 by a group of veterinary immunologists assembled at the annual Conference of Research Workers in Animal Diseases (CRWAD). After the AAVI was established, the AAVI now holds an annual business and scientific meeting in conjunction with CRWAD each year, as well as an annual symposium in conjunction with the American Association of Immunologist (AAI) Veterinary Immunology Committee.
The AAI has been a strong supporter of the AAVI and has provided financial support for the Distinguished Veterinary Immunologist (DVI) and the graduate student awards at the CRWAD meeting. We appreciate their contributions and continued collaboration. AAVI members are encouraged to consider membership to our fellow organization, AAI.
