Junior Scientist Travel Stipends for CRWAD 2026

In 2025, the American Association of Veterinary Immunologists (AAVI) will award up to five $500 travel awards to students and postdoctoral fellows to partially cover travel expenses to CRWAD 2026. Graduate students and postdoctoral fellows with major interests in veterinary immunology, diagnostics, and/or vaccines are encouraged to apply. These travel awards are possible thanks to the USDA-NIFA grant number 2025-67015-44203.

Requirements:
  • Both the graduate student/postdoctoral fellow and their advisor must be or become members of AAVI, and be up-to-date in the payment of membership dues at the time of application.

Eligibility criteria (one of the following):
  • Graduate student (MS or PhD) or postdoctoral research associate in an US-based institution of higher education or research institute regardless of nationality.
  • US-citizen enrolled in an official graduate program (MS or PhD) or postdoctoral program in any institution of higher education or research institute.

Application process:
To apply, the graduate student or postdoctoral fellow must electronically submit:
  1. an application statement (<1,500 keystrokes) briefly describing their background in veterinary immunology and career goals;
  2. a copy of their submitted CRWAD 2026 abstract with the indication that the graduate student or postdoctoral fellow will be the presenting author;
  3. an updated CV/resume (5 pages max)

Evaluation criteria:
Research in any area of veterinary immunology, vaccines, or diagnostics will be considered. The abstract must report novel research not reported elsewhere and will be judged for scientific quality. A panel of judges appointed by the AAVI Executive Board will make selection of the award recipients. Applications will be evaluated based on: (1) abstract presentation, (2) abstract content, (3) applicant's CV, and (4) research statement.

Application deadline will be October 1, 2025, and selected candidates will be notified no later than November 15, 2025.
